Taking you to some the least accessible & hidden delights of the region, as well as tourism favourites, where there's often a fascinating historical connection or story to tell.

From the North, just 45 minutes from Edinburgh sees you into North Northumberland & Scottish Borders 2hrs-45mins to Newcastle Upon Tyne the regions capital Cathedral City in Tyne & Wear_ Newcastle to Durham 40mins_ Going North from Newcastle city centre to Mid Northumberland 50mins. Whether arriving by plane at Newcastle International Airport, by Ferry from Europe or Scandinavia or regionally or nationally by train or making your own way by private transport the region is easily accessible from all points with little traffic to compete with, soon after leaving major conurbation areas. Rural parts of Northumberland, Borders, Durham, Tynedale have some of the most tranquil, not to be missed scenic routes/roads in the country. In fact drawing from a compass point situated at the Tyne River estuary, an arc of 50-60miles radius North > South & East covers the majority of the North East & Border Region.

Hear about the Border Rievers, the bloody battles_A Region of 800 square miles of rolling hills and moorland in the west, through gentler valleys, rich agricultural plains in the east to the rocky coastline of Berwickshire/North Northumberland with its secluded coves and picturesque fishing villages. Through its centre runs the River Tweed providing some of the best fishing in Scotland. You can try your hand at golf, riding, walking or cycling. You'll discover friendly towns and charming villages, while abbeys, stately homes and museums illustrate the exciting and often bloody history of the area. The Borders, a famed region for textiles. We think you'll want to browse and buy beautiful tweeds & tartans and the highest quality knitwear [eg.Pringles] from the mills and shops.

Eating out here is a pleasure also with a great choise of Inns, hotels, restaurants and bistro cafe`s, so many flavours to tempt & excite your taste bubs. Ales brewed to an ancient recipe, hearty fish soups with Gaelic seasoning, salmon and game smoked to distintive Borders cure - it can make you hungry just thinking about them. Think haggis, think scotch broth, think whisky, think beef and delicious soft fruits!

Colour your life whilst in the Scottish Borders. Discover, stalk the pages of Borders history and relate to names such as Merlin, William Wallace, Robert the Bruce & Mary Queen of Scots. Visit ancient fortifications, battle fields. There is mystery and poetry in the historic hills. Two miles east of Galashiels lies Abbotsford, home to the novelist, author of Rob Roy & Ivanhoe; Sir Walter Scott. The great abbeys and castles, monumental remains of Jedburgh, Dryburgh, Kelso Abbey founded 1128 & Melrose Abbey home to the heart of Robert the Bruce. To the east is 18th century Paxton House built for a German Prince by John & James Adam. There' s Edwardian Manderstain Hall & Georgian Mellerstain renowned for Robert Adams interior design, home of the Earl & Countess of Haddington. Enormous, extravagant Floors Castle near Kelso home of the Duke of Roxburghshire with it's priceless European paintings, tapestries and furnishings. Traquair, said to be the oldest inhabited house in Scotland's borders with Jacobite associations, visited amongst others by Mary Queen of Scots and not forgetting the romantic and medieval castle of Neidpath on the backs of the River Tweed & Thirleston Castle recently carefully restored to its former splendour.
