Since that time it has seen many changes, and today offers its guests a unique blend of oak beams, open fires, intimate atmosphere and traditional hospitality alongside the modern comforts of its well appointed guest accommodation. Dating from 1345 which makes it one of England's oldest hostelries, the half-timbered Star Inn is in Alfriston's centre - ideal for the South Down's Trail, opera at Glyndebourne or the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry. Facilities include a restaurant for traditional meals and a bar serving snacks. Local activities include golf and horseriding.
